RS TURBO HISTORY

To keep the Porsche 911 at the forefront of racing competition in the early 70’s, Porsche turned to turbocharging and created the Carrera RSR Turbo which finished 2nd at Lemans in 1974. The 1975 911 Turbo was the first “production” car in Porsche’s history to be renowned for horsepower and top speed and could be considered Porsche’s first production hot-rod which utilized several features and components found on their racing cars. Throughout the years, the 911 Turbo is considered by many to be the quintessential sports car that embodies tradition, innovation and design.
